Open industry initiative

Academy of Modular Construction and Engineering Technologies

An open educational initiative in which INTERMODULE acts as the initiator in its role as a manufacturer and general distributor. The goal is to raise the professional level of the market: to give clients, design engineers, procurement specialists, general contractors and manufacturers precise, practical knowledge so that modular projects become safer, more transparent and more technologically advanced.

Why the industry needs it

Fewer substandard products, errors in specifications and rework after the tender

The Academy is not the corporate school of a single manufacturer. It is a platform where the market jointly agrees on precise requirements, clear criteria and verifiable knowledge.

Precise knowledge

Understand exactly what is being bought

Structure, steel, insulation, building services, documentation, climate rating, installation and operation are clear before the contract is signed.

Market protection

Reduce the risk of substandard products

Knowledge helps to spot understated characteristics, incomplete scope, a weak frame and documentation errors in time, before they surface after delivery.

Errors in specifications

Reduce errors in specifications and design

Separately stated dimensions, floor areas, climate, loads and scope of supply mean that proposals from different plants price the same product.

Economics

Cut rework, lead times and unnecessary costs

Checking feasibility at the specification stage eliminates equipment substitutions, recalculations and repeated approvals after the tender.

Safety

No hidden savings on critical items

Load-bearing structures, fire safety solutions, building services and installation are never subject to unnoticed cost-cutting.

Technology

Make the market transparent and technologically advanced

Digital questionnaires, specification templates, calculators, open checklists and verifiable data become the norm.

Core philosophy

Design only what can actually be manufactured, delivered, installed and maintained at the specific location

The market problem: projects end up including solutions that are not available locally, are located too far away or are nearly impossible to procure properly. After the tender, the substitution of equipment and components begins, along with recalculations, design changes and repeated approvals.

Position 1

Proven and available solutions first

Where a task can be solved with a series-produced component or a standard module, it makes sense to start there.

Position 2

Custom solutions only when they are really needed

The Project series is reserved for function, safety and special site conditions, not used by default.

Position 3

Standardization does not restrict architecture

There is no need to redesign every time what could long since have been unified: connection details, service entries, levels, fasteners.

The Academy formula

Standardize the interfaces. Keep the architecture free.

Professional industry standard

An initiative to shape a professional standard for modular construction

The Academy is gradually assembling common working rules for all market participants. This is not a state standard and not an ST RK national standard: it is an open professional practice that the market shapes together.

Specification and procurement

  • How to write a technical specification
  • How to compare commercial proposals
  • How to plan procurement and budget

Design and calculation

  • How to design modular buildings
  • How to calculate climate, insulation and loads
  • How to check the feasibility of a solution in the region

Production and operation

  • How to control quality at the plant
  • How to accept modules
  • How to plan logistics, installation and subsequent operation
Manifesto

Nine principles of a modern modular construction market

Industry development begins not with louder advertising but with more precise requirements, clear standards and solutions that can actually be implemented.

01

Precision instead of guesswork

Technical solutions are described with figures, characteristics, standards and scope of supply, not in general terms.

02

Design only feasible solutions

A project includes only what can be manufactured, delivered, installed and maintained at the specific location.

03

Sensible standardization

Standard, proven components where individuality adds no value; freedom where it is needed.

04

Geometric compatibility

Modules from different manufacturers match in dimensions and in floor and ceiling levels, mating planes and axes.

05

Safety

Load-bearing capacity, fire safety solutions, building services and installation quality are never a place for hidden savings.

06

Transparent comparison of proposals

Solutions with identical scope and scope of supply are compared, not bottom-line prices.

07

Full life cycle

The solution accounts for delivery, installation, maintenance, repair, upgrades and the replaceability of components.

08

Manufacturer cooperation

A single standard makes it possible to split a large order among several plants and assemble one facility.

09

A technologically advanced modern market

Digital questionnaires, specification templates, calculators, open checklists and verifiable data are the industry norm.

A good project is not the most complex project. It is a project that solves the task safely and rationally and can be implemented in the real world without endless rework.

Open Compatibility Standard

One project. Several plants. One standard.

A single plant in Kazakhstan may physically be unable to produce a 450-module project on a short schedule. With a common standard, the order is split among several manufacturers: plant A builds part of the accommodation modules, plant B another part, plant C the sanitary blocks, plant D the admin and welfare blocks (ABK) and service facilities. On site, everything is assembled into a single compatible facility.

Compete on quality and efficiency. Cooperate on capacity.

We invite the market to jointly define what is really worth standardizing. The working group is open to manufacturers, design engineers, general contractors, clients and operating organizations.

First-stage courses

Three courses of ten lessons each

From the first question to a technical specification, a shift worker camp and an understanding of the structure. Every lesson ends with a checklist and a link to a practical tool.

Upcoming courses in preparation

Design of Modular Buildings · Thermal Engineering and Climate · Building Services · Technological Modules · Production and Quality Control · Logistics and Installation · Procurement and Economics · Design for the Local Market. Publication dates will be listed here.
